When I was younger I told my mom
I would never go back...
Imagine young Ashley (around 12 years old) coming off a plane with 30 other kids smelling like we’d never taken a shower. I looked right at my mom & said “I am never going back to Alaska.”
Fast forward to college and I fell in love with mission work. It started with 40 girls in the Philippines, crashed for two hard months in India, developed into an unbelievable peace from amazing interviews with 6 ministries in Uganda to take me to Ukraine full time. God brought me back to America for His own reasons and I’ve been obediently waiting for direction. He gave me peace about staying in Habersham, GA and I have been putting down roots ever since.
When the mission night came around for my church, River Point, I was praying about a trip. Billy, the lead for this trip, was speaking and I just felt in my spirit God say “go” so here I am. I don’t use this phrasing lightly, only a handful of times have I actually felt the Spirit be specific in how I am suppose to be obedient.
We are working with LaVerne Griffin Youth Camp in Wasilla, Alaska. My team of 20ish & I will be helping put on the camp for 7th-12th graders. When I was 16 I met Jesus for the first time. I was at a summer camp & the leader I had was a full time missionary in Uganda. There is no doubt God was intentional in showing me that age makes no difference in our roles of impacting the kingdom. She modeled humility, obedience & trust in God that I had not seen before & I am praying I can model that too.
I must raise $1,500 & am asking for you to prayerfully consider being a part of this story. I would be stealing joy & blessings from you if I didn’t invite you into this process. I’ve been beyond blessed in the past by the prayer & financial support I’ve received. I am always astounded at what God does through my time on the trip as well as the lives impacted who walked & prayed alongside me.
I will keep everyone updated through my personal Facebook page (HERE!) All donations are tax deductible & checks can be written to River Point Community Church with Alaska trip on the memo line. They can be mailed to me at 314 Holley St. Demorest, GA 30535.
